Today’s SB-1 as Amended

If this is the Governor’s Pothole bill, it is badly labeled as most the money will not be going to potholes. Potholes look like an afterthought. Here is the law as amended today according to the official site. I dare you to find how much of this tax will go to fixing the potholes.

If you object to these new taxes being marketed as a pothole tax, without a clear description of how the money will be applied to fixing potholes, call the state reps and request a no vote on SB-1. Insist they give us the option of a “pothole only” tax: https://discoveryink.wordpress.com/state-legislators/

  1. More media take on this subject:

Orange County Register: Gov. Jerry Brown’s package of tax hikes to fund road repairs is tough medicine to take, but we might just have to take it, at least in part. We certainly can’t let California’s freeways, roads and bridges become even more run-down or unsafe. Something must be done, but it must be done in a prudent fashion.:

Modesto Bee: Set aside arguments over whether California’s roads need repair; just driving beyond your driveway proves that. Let’s get to what’s important to the Northern San Joaquin Valley. Leverage. For once, we have some.

East Bay Times: The statewide transportation tax package proposed by Gov. Jerry Brown and Democratic leaders of the state Legislature takes an excellent idea and runs it off the road.

  2. I don’t remember which link I posted either sfcta, sfmta budget or plan Bay Area funding. But all three have gas tax as part of funding for their stupid bs plans. It’s all stated in the most recent past links that I pasted in my comments. The last 2-4 links. It’s not going to one damn pot hole or road. Only pot home you will see them fix will be on a street they completely redesign. That’s if they do decide to fix it.

Example vanness brt. Some of its funding is suppose to be coming from future gas tax in crease. They are not fixing anything. They will construct the brt portion then walk away leaving the rest of the street with no new pavement and no pot home fixed.

In not exactly sure why people are still blind and believe the game. They purposely create a problem. Blow it up in the media the. Say vote for this funding so we can fix the problem. All of the funding to fix roads and pot holes has been approved by citizens. Look at sf. How many times has funding been approved to fix the roads and pot holes and instead spent on there dumb projects leaving roads to crumble? Ow they say we’re broke and are roads suck raise the gas tax so we can fix them.

Go look at that funding London breed complained about not being spent fast enough. 500mil or something. Go look at that measure. It says fix roads and pot holes. Bunch of crap
