We suggest you prepare for the Open House Design meetings by talking to the residents and businesses in your block to reach an agreement on some priority principals on parking on our block so that you can present a solid plan at the public Open House Design meetings.

A soon-to-be scheduled meeting in November will be the meeting where a decision-making committee:  NEMAC – NorthEast Mission Advisory Committee – will discuss and ultimately approve the overall NE Mission Parking Plan.  Your voice on important issues is needed NOW to ensure we have a balanced discussion on many different issues that affect parking in NE Mission.

Background and why you need to act now:  New Efforts are underway to develop a neighborhood parking plan in the North East Mission in anticipation of a new development policies that eliminate minimal off-street parking for new construction that you see going up all around you now.

If you want to have any say in what happens to the street parking you and your friends and clients now count on, please work with the neighborhood groups to support a neighborhood plan for Residential Parking Permits for residents and business in the parking area.

We suggest you choose someone to organize your block and communicate with the neighboring blocks. After you reach an agreement with the people on your block, let the people on the adjacent blocks know what you decided to see if your plan interferes with theirs.

We are generally supporting a set of principals that protect the current street parking for the people who live and work here now to protect our homes, jobs, and investments. We feel that the residential parking permits will do that and eliminate the commuters who don’t live or work here.

Let us know if you need help figuring out the process. The neighborhood groups are trying to assist anyone who needs help by putting out notices on actions that arise as the process changes. Updates will be posted here and notices will be sent out to people who request them here by contacting us here: Neighborhood Groups

Please let us know when your block has developed a plan.

Some things to consider:

  1. Have you filed an application for residential parking permits? If so when? Some blocks have been granted parking permits and others have not.
  2. Is the current parking situation is working for you now. If not, what are the primary problems?

See details on the upcoming meetings at the Verdi Club and try to send people from your block to the meeting to support your request. Some of us recited this mailing and others did not. Let us now if you received notice about the meetings from SFMTA?
